MANAGING PARTNER
BOLUWATIFE JOHN SANYA is a distinguished legal professional serving as the Managing Partner at Paddle Solicitors. He is a Notary Public. He obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Law from Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, and was admitted to the Nigerian Bar. With a robust foundation in litigation, corporate, and commercial practice, Boluwatife has cultivated extensive expertise in these areas since the outset of his legal career and has a proactive approach to legal challenges.
Boluwatife has handled several complex litigation and leads the dispute resolution team of the Firm that services several private and government agencies including the Nigeria Police Force, National Horticultural Research Institute and the College of Forestry, Ibadan, to mention a few.
Boluwatife’s commitment to intellectual property law is particularly notable. He completed a copyright course at Harvard Law School in 2018 and has pursued further education with several courses organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). His dedication is underscored by international certifications in intellectual property valuation and auditing conferred by WIPO, the Korean Intellectual Property Office, Korea Institute of Science and Technology, and the Korean Invention Promotion Association. Boluwatife also holds a prestigious Master’s degree in Intellectual Property from WIPO, the African Regional Intellectual Property Organisation (ARIPO), and Africa University.
In addition to his specialization in intellectual property, Boluwatife is an Associate-member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (United Kingdom), reflecting his proficiency in alternative dispute resolution practices.
Boluwatife John Sanya is a sought-after speaker and author, having presented at prominent forums including the World Intellectual Property Organisation’s Demo Day, 2023 and authored numerous publications on legal topics, societal issues, and nation-building. He was recently contracted by the World Intellectual Property Organisation to mentor sixteen Nigerian startups on how the startups can leverage on their intellectual property rights in their respective industries.
His leadership within the legal community is exemplified by his tenure as Chairman of the Young Lawyers’ Forum, Nigerian Bar Association, Ibadan branch from June 2022 to June 2024. His tenure underscored his dedication to fostering professional growth and community engagement within the legal profession. Boluwatife was appointed Chairman of the National Young Lawyers Forum probono committee which focused on representing indigent persons and advocating for law reforms especially those that do not favour young persons in Nigeria.
Boluwatife was recently recognized and awarded as one of the legal practitioners under 40 years in Nigeria as a rising star by the ESQ. Legal Awards.
He is an Honorary Member of the Nigerian Army Officers Mess, 2 Division.
